As Trump’s presidential campaign marched on, he went on to win the Presidential Race. However, millions of sane Americans have been asking,  “What exactly is wrong with this strange individual?”

However, with the advent of Trump, we wonder if he is the first of his kind? Recently Researchers from Harvard have identified that Trump is most probably a Narcissist and they urge the senate to make him undergo testing for his Mental And Psychological Testing. They describe  “Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance. A deep need for admiration and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of ultra-confidence lies a fragile self-esteem that’s vulnerable to the slightest criticism.”

Other Leaders Like Trump

As some have pointed out, the closest international analog to Trump may be former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi. Berlusconi ran Italy for nine years on and off between 1994 and 2011. Like Trump, he made his money in real estate. He too has a ridiculously inflated ego, hurls sexist insults at female politicians and uses humor to distract the media from his extremist policies, and so on. It’s no surprise that Trump is reportedly a fan of Berlusconi.

However, there have been many other World Leaders just like Trump. One of them for example, is Rob Ford. He is a former Mayor of Toronto, famous for indulging in crack. He too was a crude, over the top politician. And like Trump made offensive statements.

It is certainly true that all narcissists are not terrible people. Some suspected narcissists, including Elvis Presley, Marlon Brando and even Alec Baldwin are not only decent people, some have also done a lot of good through philanthropic work. yet there is one critical difference between those people and Trump or Saddam. Only the latter two were in or are pursuing positions as heads of state—a role that grants enormous power over world affairs and people’s lives. While a narcissistic personality might be one of the traits that allowed Trump to be such a successful businessman and reality TV star, it is also the trait that makes him potentially dangerous as a political leader.
